We designed a warm and modern office within the heritage red-brick Otto Wurth smallgoods factory in Preston.
Our clients, Bounce Books, needed to bring the space to modern, commercial standards for energy efficiency, fire separation and disabled access, while also creating a playful, eclectic feel that fitted their creative publishing company; all on a tight budget.
The site was subject to a Council Heritage Overlay, so we needed to insert the new structure and materials without disturbing too much of the existing building fabric or losing the factory’s character.
We worked closely with a building surveyor, a fire engineer, a disabled access consultant, council planners and a council heritage advisor to design a warm, textural office space that connects an intimate, industrial ground floor with a light and open workspace above.
